The Austin A40 is a series of compact cars produced from 1947 to 1968 by the British car manufacturer, Austin Motor Company. The A40 model was popularly known as the "Baby Austin" and was designed to be a small affordable family car that could be used for both personal and commercial purposes.
The first generation of A40s was produced from 1947 to 1950 and featured an engine producing 40 horsepower. The second-generation which was produced from 1950 to 1954 featured an engine with 42 horsepower.
The A40 was also available in various body styles including a two-door saloon, a convertible, and a two-door pickup. The A40 was produced in the UK and was exported to various countries including the United States, Canada, and Australia.
The A40 was eventually replaced by the Austin A40 Farina, which differentiated itself by featuring a more streamlined and modern body design.
